We are honored to welcome Prof. Rena Bizios as the keynote speaker of ETPN2016. Rena Bizios is a Peter T. Flawn Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and has been elected a member National Academy of Medicine in 2015, one of the highest honors for medical sciences, health care and public health professionals.
Educator and researcher, Prof Bizios has earned her M.S in chemical engineering from the California Institute of Technology and her Ph.D in biomedical engineering from the M.I.T. She is a pioneer and a world leading authority in cellular engineering and biomaterials, including nanostructured biomaterials. Her research interests also tissue regeneration and biocompatibility. She is recognized for making seminal contributions to the understanding of cell-material interactions, protein/cell interactions with nanostructured biomaterials, and for identifying the effects of pressure and electric current on cell functions during new tissue formation.
